Strata Vault Construction

Works at the Solway Shopping Strip in Ashburton focused on upgrading the precinct beneath and above ground to support long-term sustainability, safety and streetscape character. The project incorporated CityGreen Strata Vault systems, an advanced underground structure of interlocking, high-strength recycled plastic cells that form a load-bearing matrix beneath pavements while providing large volumes of uncompacted soil to support healthy tree growth, manage stormwater and protect surrounding infrastructure.

Above ground, the upgrade was designed to enhance accessibility, reflect the existing architectural character and create a welcoming local environment through improved paving, planting, street furniture and layout.

Positioned on a hill overlooking Ashburton’s tree-lined streets and neighbouring Solway Primary School, the revitalised precinct now offers safer movement, strengthened identity and a greener, more connected space for the local community.
